At Monkey Bar Gymnasium Woodbury, we want to change the way you look at health and fitness. Our techniques go beyond the body and open the mind to experience how your body can truly function. We’re inspired by nature, and it’s rooted in what we do as a gym and as trainers. We run, jump, crawl, climb, and build usable skills that yield results and inspire lasting confidence.

Individual differences in both goals and ability is at the core of our approach to fitness. Our classes are designed to deliver the most effective work-out for each person regardless of whether you are experienced, or a beginner.  

MBG Philosophy – MBG3

 

Our philosophy and at Monkey Bar Gym, Woodbury, CT is based on three foundations that build on one another to produce the most holistic approach in the industry: Natural Training, Restoration Yoga, and Plant-Based Nutrition. By engaging in this “Wheel of Life,” you will learn the skills necessary to rebuild and realign your body, train like a warrior, and eat plant strong. Combined, these three aspects are called MBG3. We strive to change the world of fitness from being one of isolation to one that helps people and the planet.

This is why our workouts are partner-based. This is why we don’t use mirrors. And, this is why we train barefoot. MBG3 not only challenges our followers, but our trainers & instructors as well. We feel that you must first walk the walk, before you can talk the talk. We are driven to do what we do in hopes that we have a positive effect on everyone’s health and the plant’s health.

 

  •   NATURAL TRAINING

We train naturally with no machines, no shoes, no mirrors and no egos. Our training philosophy will help you increase your strength, speed, and stamina and we will teach you to move instinctively and be self-reliant. The goal of Natural Skill Training is to develop highly skilled and strong individuals.

  • B.A.S.E (Building Alignment & Stability through Extension)

We practice B.A.S.E. Yoga for restoration and to get stronger, balanced, and aligned. You will learn conscious breathing, and improve your posture. The goal of Restoration is to rid the body of injuries and relieve stress & pain.

 

  • NUTRITION

We promote a primarily Plant-Based Diet to have a healthy body and reduce impact on the planet. Embracing Plant-Based Nutrition will get you lean and reduce inflammation. You will learn the skills and knowledge needed to eat right for you. The goal of Plant-Based Nutrition is to feel light and energized.

With keeping in line with these 3 simple core values Monkey Bar Gym, Woodbury, CT looks to change the face of health and wellness with a holistic approach.

Most of us have a hectic, busy schedule and it is difficult to plan and prepare well-balanced and healthy meals. We have partnered with New Morning Market to provide our members with a special MBG-only menu for our members. All selections are nutritious, well-balanced, and organic – members can pre-order meals for one or multiple days. Meals will be freshly made and ready for pick-up on the day you select.

 

History

 

The first Monkey Bar Gymnasium was founded in 2000 in Madison Wisconsin by  former NBA strength and conditioning coach Jon Hinds.  It was  the first skill-based gym in the country that did not use exercise or weight machines, mirrors, or require shoes to train members. Monkey Bar Gym was also the first gym in the country to incorporate plant-based nutrition to achieve power and strength, rather than relying on animal by-products or supplements. It was the first gym in the country to integrate restorative Eischens Yoga and balance activation into each workout. Finally, Monkey Bar Gym was one of the first gyms in the country to offer challenging, partner-based training regardless of fitness level.
